In sport, as in life, there’s no failure. Only feedback.

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games.

26 times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed.

I've failed over and over and over again in my life.

And that is why I succeed" - Michael Jordan

Most athletes ask two things:

How can I manage my emotional state?

What’s stopping me?

All sports coaches teach visualisation for maximum performance. A golfer or a basketball player will see and feel the shot. The bodybuilder makes the pose. The weightlifter makes the lift. The marathon runner runs the course. Mentally rehearsing over and over again.

Why?

Because every time we visualise doing something, our neurons fire off as if we are actually doing it, and by the time competition day comes around, we have already won time and time again.

Where attention goes, energy flows.

Where is your energy going? Are you rehearsing mentally as well as physically?

Are you aware of negative self talk? What story are you telling yourself?

Are you suffering from compare-itis? Remember … you are only in competition with yourself.
