I use either EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or TFT (Thought Field Therapy) in the majority of my sessions as part of the hypnotherapy process to help people relax, de-stress and release negative emotions.
They both work by tapping on the same energy points used in acupuncture and other healing therapies. By tapping on these energy (or meridian) points, the chi energy in the body is released and you feel instant relaxation and an endorphin rush which gives you an incredible sense of wellbeing and peace.
I first learned TFT from Paul McKenna as an extremely effective tool for dealing with cravings and I teach it to people when they stop smoking or lose weight.
EFT is particularly useful for releasing negative thoughts and emotions. Our unconscious mind stores everything we’ve ever learned, everything anyone has ever said to us, and all our past experiences. Problems occur when we attach emotions to old memories. Often these old emotions can hold us back without us being aware of it. When people get tearful in a hypnosis session and emotions come to the surface, it’s a sign that they are ready to move on and release an old energy that’s no longer required. EFT takes away the emotion and any blockages so a person can move forward with renewed optimism, no longer held back by the past.
Tapping can look extremely silly when you first learn it, but it is a wonderfully beneficial tool to have in your toolkit, and the more you use it, the more effective it becomes.
